ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

Who may qualify for FREE Home Health Aide (HHA) training

Free HHA training is available to New York State residents who belong to one of the population groups listed below. Eligibility is determined based on age, household status, and participation in certain assistance programs.

Category 1
Individuals age 18 or older who are currently receiving SNAP (Food Stamps only).
Applicants in this category must be receiving SNAP only and must not be receiving Cash Assistance.

Category 2
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 24 who are single or married, with or without children.

Category 3
Individuals age 24 or older who are receiving Public Assistance and have at least one child under the age of 18.

To qualify for free HHA training, applicants must meet the requirements of one of these categories. Eligibility is verified during the registration process.

FREE Home Health Aide (HHA) Training - Eligibility & Purpose

Free Home Health Aide (HHA) training is available to eligible New York State residents who meet specific participation and household criteria.

This opportunity is designed to help individuals from qualifying population groups receive HHA training at no cost and prepare for work in home care and community-based health services.

The purpose of this eligibility-based training access is to support workforce participation among individuals who may face financial or family-related barriers to traditional education and career entry.

Individuals who meet the eligibility categories listed on this page may apply to receive free HHA training. Eligibility is reviewed and confirmed during the registration process.

Personal Care Aide
Training Program

DOH-approved Personal Care Aide (PCA) training is available at our Westchester location. Training is open to all applicants. An entrance test is required for admission. Students who successfully pass the test may receive this training at no cost. This training prepares students to work as Personal Care Aides in New York State. After completing the training, students may be referred for employment with our home care agency or other licensed home care agencies.

Home Health Aide
Training Program

Home Health Aide (HHA) training is available at our schools located in Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, and Queens. For New York State residents who belong to specific population groups, there is an opportunity to receive HHA training at no cost. Eligibility for free training is determined based on established criteria, including age, household status, and participation in public assistance programs. Applicants who meet the requirements may be referred for free HHA training at one of the available schools. Eligibility is verified during the registration process.
