Program Overview
The PCA to HHA Training Program includes both theoretical instruction and practical training. The curriculum is designed to ensure you are well-versed in the expanded scope of practice for an HHA, including more advanced medical procedures and personal care techniques.
Orientation to Health-Related Tasks
Gain an understanding of various health-related tasks essential for home health aides, ensuring accurate and safe performance to enhance client care.
Performing Simple Measurements & Tests
Learn to take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration accurately, and conduct basic health assessments.
Complex Modified Diets
Understand and prepare specialized diets tailored to specific health conditions, ensuring clients receive appropriate nutrition according to their dietary needs.
Assisting with a Dressing Change
Learn and practice proper techniques for changing dressings on wounds, emphasizing sterile procedures and effective wound care management.
Assisting with Prescribed Exercise Program
Safely support and assist clients with prescribed exercises, helping them maintain mobility and physical health as directed by healthcare professionals.
Assisting with Use of Prescribed Medical Equipment, Supplies, & Devices
Get hands-on training in using medical equipment and devices like walkers, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks, ensuring clients’ safety and comfort.
Assisting with Special Skin Care
Provide specialized skin care to prevent and manage conditions like pressure ulcers, employing techniques to maintain skin integrity and promote healing.
Assisting with Ostomy Care
Develop skills to care for clients with ostomies, including handling ostomy equipment, changing ostomy bags, and maintaining skin health around the stoma.

Eligibility Criteria
To enroll in our Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program, you must meet the following admission requirements:
- Personal Care Aide Certificate
- High School Diploma or TASC (GED)*
- Wonderlic Scores: Quantitative 13 or above, Verbal 13 or above
Application Process
To ensure a successful meeting with your advisor and to streamline the application process, please bring the following documents to your scheduled visit:
- Federal Photo ID
- Social Security Card
- High School Diploma or GED*
- Updated Resume (if applicable)
Financial Aid and Scholarships

One of our key programs is the Single Moms Empowerment Program, which provides dedicated financial assistance to help single mothers succeed in their educational pursuits.
*If you do not have a High School Diploma or GED, you are still able to register for classes at Clinton Institute by passing the entrance test. However, your options for financial assistance may become limited.
